Interview by Chris Cumbo #4G
Name: Brian Allman
Age: 51
Home Town: Big Bear Lake, CA
Class: 45 Expert
Bike: Yamaha
Number: 7G
How long have you been racing with Over The Hill Gang?
Brian Allman: “I have been racing with the club solidly since 2011. I did take a short break in 2019 for a variety of reasons, but mainly to focus on the garage my wife and I had been dreaming about, and the new teeth that gave me my radiant smile!
I resumed racing again in 2020 and thought I could ride a 450. I do much better on my little YZ250F or RJ’s CR125. I started riding those after my wife finally said ‘LEAVE THAT DAMN KTM HOME!’.”
Have you received any specialty awards from OTHG?
“I received the W.F.O. Award in 2012.”
What is the lowest number in the club that you have earned?
“My lowest earned number was 3G.”
Lately, you’ve been brining two motorcycles to the track. What is the story on the spare bike?
“If the 2014 Yamaha YZ250F breaks or gets a flat, I can jump on the CR125. The second reason is the Honda was the first bike I raced with the club. Rick Jameson invited me to AV Motoplex to race with him back in February 2011 and since then we rebuilt the bike… Every nut, bolt and replaced part is OEM Factory Honda. So, I feel like part of Rick is always with me at the track.”
What is your profession or your trade?
“I am a tile/flooring contractor up in Big Bear Lake. Living the dream!”
What is your favorite racing memory at an OTHG National Event?
“The best memory I have of racing an OTHG National is the Sandbox in Fernley Nevada. When my wife and I were in staging it was so cold that it snowed that morning. I rode like a champion that day. I went 1-1-2-1. During my races, Jeff Blix was at a corner in every moto showing me his big bare ass on the fence line, right in front of the oasis camp!”
Would you like to see the gang race a GP during the season?
“Yes, I love the GPs at Glen Helen!”
Do your best friends race?
“I have a number of friends that are in the Gang, but JVD and Rick Jameson are by far my best friends ever in racing with the Gang”
Who is your biggest fan? Second biggest fan?
“Without a doubt, my wife of 20 years Andrea Allman. Pronounced ANNDREEAAA! My second biggest fan is Skye Villagran, my wife’s best friend.”
What are your plans for racing next season?
“I will race when I want to, go see all my friends, and just do a lot of camping with my family.”
Are there many trails in Big Bear?
“No OHV trails. But, Mill Creek Road offers lots of bad ass sights for all eyes, and you most certainly will see a deer, bear, or bobcat on the trails.”
Do you have any pictures that you would like to share?
“Yes…”

Any stories you would like to share?
“Back in 1998, Rick Jameson and I went up to Gorman and arrived at 2pm. We ended up going on Miller Jeep Trail. We brought extra gas cans. However, I ended up running out of gas on the way back down and had to hold on to Rick’s forearm for about 3 miles, just to make it back in the dark. That ride was one of the most memorable times. I wished I had a headlight and a bigger gas tank, but what an experience that was, on 2-strokes!”
Have you met or had any encounters with any Pro Motocross riders?
“Jim Holley was my childhood Supercross star and I got to race with him on the track at Fernley, or the ‘Sandbox’, as we call it! I grew up hanging out at Jim’s Dad’s shop in Northridge, CA. I went to a number of Supercross races at the Coliseum and rode in the Factory Yamaha van several times to events with Al and Jim Holley.
That’s how my love for Yamaha started!”
Congratulations to Brian Allman on becoming Rider of the Month for November 2021!
